The first time I met John was when he came up to DJ my friend Cyndi's 21st birthday party about 3 and a half years ago while I was still in school at Chico State. I almost spilled beer all over his precious records and he absolutely freaked out! But, I guess that negative impression didn't last long, because next thing you know, he and I were paging each other all the time and talking on the phone every day. My family thought I had turned into some sort of thug because my pager rang all the time (kidding!) We ran up major phone bills because he lived here in the Bay and I lived 3 hours away in Chico still. Even though his best friend Ryan thought that we wouldn't get together, Ryan was WRONG, and the rest is history. We've been together since March '97 and I think I have finally found a really great guy. I love him more than I ever thought possible. We are about to celebrate our 3-year anniversary in March and it's all good...John & Valeen...3/4/97...XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
We have tentatively set a date for sometime in the Fall 2002. My family of course is ecstatic, although my Mom and Stepdad are having visions of going bankrupt when all the bills for the wedding come in...(sorry Mom and Curtis!), but seriously, we are all excited about our upcoming wedding. We're saving right now for the rings and the honeymoon, which we both want to be in Hawaii. I think John has had reality bite him in the butt recently because he found out just how much engagement rings are, even the ones that don't come from Tiffany's....
It should be a beautiful ceremony though, with Curtis walking me down the aisle and my brother Robert as one of John's groomsmen. My niece and nephew will still be young enough to be the ring bearer and flower girl, they'll look so adorable! The only things left to do, aside from the actual ceremony, is for John to actually propose to me, he needs to ask my brother for his approval, and I need to meet his family, all of whom live in the Philippines. John already asked my Mom, stepdad, and grandparents for their approval; but he's still a little intimdated by the thought of asking my brother for his little sister's hand in marriage. Poor John...I wouldn't want to be the unlucky guy stuck with that task! I'm kidding though because Robert loves John as much as I do, he's just a little protective of me. So it looks as if the future will be bright and beautiful for John and Valeen!
