V's Friends
Veronica (paging Dr. Hooper!) is a long-time friend from elementary school.
She and I have been friends since 4th grade, so we go way, way back. She is now officially Dr. Hooper, having just graduated from med school and started her residency, and is also Mrs. Jeff Hooper, having just gotten married in a beautiful ceremony in our hometown Chico. She is in NY now going through the rigors of her medical residency. I miss her but I know that Jeff will be good to her...or I'll kick his butt...Just kidding Jeff...you know I love you both!
Bret is another long time friend, all the
way back from junior high. He too moved up here to the Bay and now goes to Hastings Law School up in the city. I will always value his friendship, even though we don't get to talk as much as we used to. He and I used to be pretty much inseparable back in the day. We've been there for each other through almost anything you can think of: male/female relationship problems, friendship problems with mutual friends, my parents' divorce and other family tragedies, and all sorts of other emotional drama. His advice, I have found, is usually stellar and he is always there when I need anything. Thanks Bret!
Janice is a very sweet person and a great friend. I met her while in school at Chico State. She's in Japan right now on the JET Program, but should be back soon. Then we can hopefully hang out and reminisce.

I met Ron Diao through my boyfriend John, he’s his co-worker. He’s very sweet and funny. He and John are pretty crazy around each other though. God help those poor souls who dare to enter their Production office! RonRon has this kick-ass Honda Accord that is so slammed it no longer looks like an Accord. It wins car shows all over the state. John and I are crossing our fingers hoping he’ll find a nice girl who won't break his heart.

Thajii (AKA Agent Thug Luv)
is the one who helped me do my first web page on Chico State’s server back when were both in classes there. Thaj is a great friend and we've had some unforgettable, crazy times together!
Conrad is just Conrad. If I said anymore it would just frighten and confuse you...Seriously though, I love this guy like a brother. We've had some really great, crazy times together. Some of which include an insane trip to the beach one night where he jumped in with all his clothes on, numerous parties, and too many other things to list. He is a really good friend and I would say that he is an even better friend now that his girlfriend Day has had such a calming influence on him. Like I've been saying to you since I met you Con, "you're just a big teddy bear!" Deny it all you want but it's true....
Conrad, Ryan, & John - New Year's Eve ‘96
Day is another friend from Chico, and is also Conrad's girlfriend, poor girl =) I probably won't see her much now since she moved back to the P.I. (unless Con brings her back for a visit!) but she is a good friend who is always there when anyone needs her.
Cindy is one of John's coworkers that I have gotten to know in the past year or so. She's really cool and easy to talk to. And I can talk to her about reading, especially mysteries by Marcia Muller, which is not something any of my other friends have in common with me. I'm glad to have met her and become friends with her!
My old roommie Rodney was a very cool
roommie and is still a great friend. What a sweetie he is. I
miss him a lot already now that I've graduated and moved from Chico, but he'll probably move back down to the Bay when he graduates too.
I got to know Karen through Rodney about 3 years ago. She's this really sweet, funny Pinay from SacTown. Rodney, Karen, and I all hung out together at our old apartment in Chico's party central area during my last days in Chico. Nicky and Thajii were usually there too. I could tell you about my last finals week when all of us were *trying* to study, but I wouldn't want to make myself or Karen, or Rodney, or Nick, or Thajii, or even my boyfriend John, sound less than pristine...I visit Karen and the guys sometimes up in Chico now that I've moved. I wish you the best of luck girl, hang in there, classes will soon be nothing but a bad memory.
Todd is one of my former coworkers from PageNet. The poor guy is the PC support rep, general fix-it person, and the phone system guru. I’m happy to know that even though I have left PageNet and am now happy at Beatnik, he and I are still good friends and that he and his girl Jen will hang out with me and John. I'm really glad to have met you Todds!
Ryan is a good friend I met in Chico. He introduced me to my boyfriend John. Check out his web page to learn more about him.
Ryan and Valeen
Ate Steph is the
sweetest person I have ever met. She's another Bay Area person that I missed while I was in Chico. At least now I get to see her sometimes.
Clockwise from top left: John, Stephanie, Leland, Remy, Lili, Ron A., & Conrad
Remy is a friend I met through Ryan.
Poor thing, she has to put up with John treating her like a younger
sister and with Ryan teasing her all the time. She can take it though,
she's tough like that!
Cathy is another friend I met at Chico State. She lives here in the Bay. She's a really cool friend to have, when I actually see her! Just kidding Cath...she's just started a new job though, so I don't get to see her much. When we do hang out though, she's always a laugh riot.
Candice is the person I think of as the house mother of us former PageNetters because she likes to take care of us all. She calls us her "people" which is a big compliment. She even tried to get me a job at Gap corporate in the city where she's at now when she found out they gave me notice, but I didn't want that nasty commute from San Mateo to SF. I'm really glad we've become such good friends Candice!
Chelshey is another friend I made while I was still at PageNet. She's not there anymore either, but we keep in touch and she's a good friend.
Nicky is the same Nick mentioned in Thajii and Karen's blurbs. He is a crazy half
Filipino, half white guy (it must be that Pinoy in him that makes him so
nuts...) I have never met anyone quite like him. Uh
Nicky, when you gonna get yourself some legs?!?! We gave you money to buy some, remember?
Cyndi has
taught me a lot about the Filipino culture, since I knew nothing about
it when I met her because my family is white. Cyndi is
a good person, with a good heart. We don't get to hang out a lot now that I live in the Bay, but she is a good friend who is there if you need her.

Ron Abellar is the first
Pinoy I met in Chico. He's a sweetie and a total smooth talker, but one with a heart of gold. He's always there for me
me for advice or just an
ear. It's great to be hangin with him again now that we're all in the Bay.
